Almond Butter Obsession
When I started reading a few American and Canadian fitness blogs to help me with my running, I noticed that they all used almond butter in their food. On bread, on cereal, in smoothies – sounds gross doesn’t it?
It’s not! I am converted! I am an almond butter addict!
After sussing out what it actually was – think peanut butter made from 100% almonds – I started adding it to some of my meals. And it’s amazing. Would you like to see my current breakfast obsession?
Rolled oats:
With banana and blueberries:
A giant dollop of almond butter and a drizzle of honey:
Then add milk and mix it all up!
When I’m at home I usually add sesame seeds too, but I’m still staying with my parents and asking them to buy almond butter was pushing it already. I am well aware that my breakfast looks like a blueberry milkshake with bits of cat sick floating in it, but it’s GOOD!
If you too would like to become almond butter obsessed, it’s available in the health food section of most supermarkets.
Does anyone else have a slightly bizzare food obsession?

Sounds delicious AND healthy. Are you buying fresh blueberries or coping with frozen? They’re just ridiculously expensive at the moment.
Frozen! The cost of fresh blueberries is insane! And quite often they’re sour too..
Yes, Atm is wasabi mayo- with chips, carrot sticks anything really. Your post puts me at ease- It though i was going nuts. What else can you use it on?
Is wasabi mayo the new aioli then? :) It’s good on toast with jam…and a lot of people use it in smoothies. Haven’t tried it myself but I’ll let you know if I do.
LOL! I had both ingredients in the fridge so just mushed them together.
Hey, you have a blog now! Have seen from your tweets that you love your food too so it’s great you finally started a blog. :)
The almond butter sounds delish but actually looks like satay sauce from the photo above! Will have to hunt it down to try some for myself.
Thanks April! I adore your blog. Actually had a sneaky peek at the remaining themes for the Cookbook Challenge, but I think I’m still too much of a cooking novice to join in :P Now that you mention it, the almond butter does look like satay sauce. Trust me though, it works on cereal!
I would never have thought to try almond butter – but your breakfast, is tempting me! :)

Go on, try it. If you don’t like it, give you jar to me :P
May I ask where you buy Almond Butter in Melbs? (being the noob that I am) :)
You can usually find it in the health food section of the supermarket :)
This looks like a great breaky. I have rolled oats, blueberries and yoghurt for breakfast. Will try almond butter.
Carly – Once you try it you’ll be hooked, I promise.
