Riverland

Remember when I used to write enthusiastic posts like this about my running training? Remember how I was going to complete the 10km Run Melbourne course this year? Well, that didn't happen. Which is a story for another day. Instead, I had breakfast at Riverland with my lovely friend T, while my Mr and her Mr completed Run Melbourne. read more

Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander

When Mr and I visited Yea a few months ago to catch some big-ass monster yabbies, we thought it might be best to have a big lunch first. You know, in case we had lousy luck and didn’t catch anything. As it turned out we really didn’t have to worry about going hungry. But I am glad that we stopped by at Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander Winery and Bistro in Healesville before we got down to... read more

Attica

Many many MANY months ago, I had the pleasure of dining with @g_melbs  @bookshopaddict @injerarufus and @annetreasure at Attica. (I have just checked the dates on my photos and it was September 2010 that we visited. FOR SHAME LAZY BLOGGER. FOR SHAME!) We dined on a Tuesday night which meant that we were able to sample the Chef’s Table: a five course experimental degustation for $95. Matched wines... read more

Ocha

One of the things that I love the most about Twitter is that it is no longer quite so odd to meet up with a bunch of random people you met over the internet. Yes, there are still a few massive freaks out there in Twitterland who really should stay behind their keyboards instead of venturing out into the world, but Twitter has put me in touch with some pretty funky people. On this particular occasion I was lucky enough to have @bookshopaddict, Mrs @bookshopaddict @annetreasure, @eatnik, Mr @eatnik, @ShannonERyan and Mr as my lovely dining companions at Ocha. read more

Porgie + Mr Jones

It was a windy rainy miserable night in Melbourne, as per usual. We wanted to go out somewhere but only if the venue was warm, cozy, and the food was guaranteed to be great.... Porgie + Mr Jones! This gorgeous little cafe in Hawthorn is quite well known for it's amazing breakfasts - try getting a table on the weekend without queuing up first. But it's the three course set dinner menu that really shows off what P+MJ has to offer. read more

Sugadeaux Cupcakes Tasting Night

Jess aka Sugadeaux has balls. Not only did she invite some of the most knowledgeable & critical fooderati in Melbourne (just to clarify, not referring to myself here) to taste her cupcakes. She invited them to taste her newest cupcake creations and let them decide which ones were worthy of becoming a part of her regular menu. Ballsy right? I could not imagine anything more terrifying than asking foodies, bloggers and chefs to swarm in on mass to sample and score your baking skills. But Jess did it. Because she is legendary. read more

Perth Dining Highlights

Perth is changing. Thank God. Don't get me wrong - I adore Perth. My family and bestest friends live there. The weather is FAR better than crappy Melbourne weather. Perth also has the most beautiful beaches in the world (IMHO). But I used to dread going back to Perth from Melbourne, because there seemed to be very few places to go that served good food and coffee at a reasonable price, with decent service too. read more

Top Melbourne Dining Experiences 2009-2010

The original title of this post was going to be ‘Top Five Dining Experiences 2009-2010′. But I have only been able to narrow it down to six restaurants. Six didn’t sound right. Needed to be a multiple of five. Anyway.. Here are my top SIX dining experiences from mid 2009-2010. When I say ‘Top Dining Experiences’ I am referring to more than just the food. I’ve been to... read more
